about

Excerpts from a fiddle workshop presented at Gryphon Strings in Palo Alto, CA, on January 31, 2015. Charlie Walden - fiddle and Patt Plunkett - piano. We played some great tunes with the group including Mississippi Sawyer, Lamplighter's Hornpipe, which comes from the great 19th century tradition of America fiddle tunes, and Harrington Valley Two-Step composed by Calvin Vollrath, a prolific tune composer and performer from Edmonton, Alberta. For a transcription of this tune and to hear how it's really played go to calvinvollrath.com/home.We finished with a bouncy Bb hornpipe from the Missouri Valley region as I learned it from Cyril Stinnett - called Casey's Hornpipe.

about

Charlie Walden Music / Patt & Possum Chicago, Illinois

After twenty plus years of playing traditional music together Patt Plunkett and Charlie Walden (aka Patt & Possum) have learned a thing or two about getting along musically. While some couples might bicker about the bills or where to go out to eat, these two battle over chord progressions and set lists.
